Betty White has had a career for about 70 years! She certainly has not "retired." At 88 years of life experience and as of last Saturday, she is now the oldest person to host Saturday Night Live (SNL). And SNL had the highest rating in the last 18 months! She was selected to be a host because of her Facebook fans and Betty did not even know about Facebook.
Questions: Why do you think Betty is so hot? What does this say about our culture and aging?

Doc, This blog was more like a ‘ Tweet ‘ ( 103 words ). But, be that as it may, why would you think an 88 year old lady telling off-color jokes on the highly popular SNL would be hot ? If that was your mother using a filthy mouth, would you think she would be ‘ hot ‘ ? What if an 88 year old non-celeb was sitting next to you in a cafe telling dirty jokes, would you think that was ‘ hot ‘? Would you consider her a ‘ mentor ‘ ? When an 87 year old wears mini skirts and talks foul language is that still funny and hot? It’s not when they aren’t a tv icon but just an old lady out in public.
I think your perspective is interesting. I actually did not see the show, but I found it fascinating that she was resonating with younger people and they thought she was “hip.” Intergenerational appreciation is a good thing. We can learn from them and they can learn from us. I think I am also trying to overcome some of the stereotypes of aging. Thanks
Betty White still has it! I mean, I’m not old enough to see her when she was young obviously but my grandmother used to always watch Golden girls. She is hot because eventhough she is 70 she is not letting her age effect her personality.
